My name is Hannah Trigg and I provide translation and review services in the United Kingdom. I am based in the UK and accordingly am subject to the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

Processing of personal data

I collect, store and use your personal data for the following purposes: to issue quotes, to provide a translation or review service as requested by you, or to comply with legal requirements.

The personal data collected may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number and VAT number. Personal data may also include banking details and other information in documents sent to me for the express purpose of translation or review. All data is processed on password-protected computers featuring anti-virus protection, which is always kept up to date, and is not accessible to third parties.

I do not use your personal data for marketing purposes and I do not disclose it to unauthorised third parties.

For administrative purposes, other parties may have access to your personal data, including my email hosting service. All these parties are GDPR-compliant or, in the case of US companies, are self-certified under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework.

Legal basis

The legal basis for processing your data is to perform the translation or review services you request or take necessary steps prior to fulfilling that request (“contract”) and to comply with legal requirements (“legal obligation”).

The legal basis for processing special categories of data, where contained in documents that you send to me for translation or review, is your explicit consent for me to translate or review that information (“consent”).

Data retention

I will retain personal data for eight years unless you ask me to delete it sooner. Should you ask me to delete translations before the eight-year period has expired, I cannot be held responsible for any queries or claims relating to the content as I will have no way of verifying the accuracy of the original content.

Right of access

You may contact me at any time to request a copy of your personal data, or to ask me to rectify or remove the information I hold. I will respond to your request without undue delay and no later than one month after receiving notification of your request.

Right to lodge a complaint

If you have any concerns about how I process your personal data, please contact me. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in the UK (the ICO) or in the country where you live.

Website

The Trigg Translations website is hosted on WordPress.com. I use the standard WordPress.com service to collect anonymous details on user activity, such as the number of visitors to the site in a given period and the country where visitors viewed my site.

Security measures

I take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure that your personal data is protected. The devices I use to store and process personal data are password-protected and updated when updates become available. Anti-virus software is installed on these devices to prevent theft or destruction. This anti-virus software is updated when updates become available. I back up my data to an encrypted external hard drive so that personal data can be recovered in the event of loss or damage.
